SAFA Fuel Polishers
Anglo Nordic Is A Proud Distributor of Inpro Equipment
Fuel Polishing is a process of cleaning and filtering liquid fuels such as diesel or HVO, to keep it to its optimal condition. The process removes contaminants like water to prevent microbial growth which could eventually lead to sludge build-up in storage tanks and in turn blocking fuel filters in the supply line. Fuel polishing is essential for maintaining the performance and reliability of engines and systems that rely on stored fuel, especially when used as a backup or secondary fuel source such as in CHP systems, or power generators.
Types of SAFA Fuel Polishers Available
Applications and Specific Features
- Automatic Fuel Polishing system for particle filtration, water removal, fuel homogenisation and fuel oxygenation
- Prevents the proliferation of bacteria, moulds and yeasts
- Automatic programmed recirculation protocol, should be set to clean the total contents of the tank 1.5 times every 28 days.
- When water is detected, an alarm is triggered for action to be taken.
- Optional weatherproof cabinet enclosures available for external storage.
Why Fuel Polishing Is So Important
Microbial contamination of fuel storage tanks is becoming a major problem. Modern diesel often contains up to 7% biodiesel, which increases condensation inside tanks. That moisture creates the perfect environment for bacteria to grow – leading to clogged filters, pump damage, and higher fuel use.
Quite often, the first symptoms are detected in the installation’s filters as these become plugged, giving rise to heavy repair and maintenance expenses. The bacteria proliferates with the accumulation of water in the tanks, quickly forming large colonies that obstruct the filters, cause irregular wear to the pumps and affect engine cylinders. In addition, reduced efficiency causes a considerable increase in fuel consumption.
Clean fuel reduces wear on injectors, pumps and burners, lowering maintenance costs and extending the lifespan of the equipment, and reducing the risk of downtime, which is essential for use in CHP systems, backup generators and boiler systems.
