Summer is the Season for Servicing

Summer has finally arrived, which also means it’s the optimal time for your customers to service their Oil Systems, in time for the colder seasons, when they rely on them the most. Don’t leave it to chance this year and get prepared. OFTEC recommends that oil-fired boilers, tanks and equipment be serviced at least once a year. We can help with that!

Boiler Servicing

Annual boiler servicing involves a series of checks carried out by a certified engineer on your central heating system each year. The main objective is to ensure that your boiler, radiators, and other heating appliances function safely and efficiently.

Instead of viewing it as a routine task, consider boiler servicing as a precautionary measure to eliminate the risks of carbon monoxide leaks and other potential hazards. It helps prevent technical issues that could result in a breakdown and unexpected cost hikes if your heating system’s performance deteriorates rapidly.

Oil Tank Servicing

During oil boiler servicing or when arranging a replacement, the engineer will inspect the oil tank. Any defects or non-compliance issues will be reported, along with recommendations for rectification. Common concerns include a deteriorating tank body, rust, improper location near a shed, lack of bunding, or proximity to a drain. Immediate problems may involve leaks from a degraded tank or oil line requiring environmental cleanup and water seepage into the tank. Unfortunately, this can contaminate the oil and potentially lead to boiler malfunctions.

Overall, it is the responsibility of oil tank owners to prevent environmental oil spills. Owners are liable for cleanup costs and any subsequent damages resulting from spills. Although home insurance covers oil tanks and spills, coverage terms can be restrictive. Owners must maintain the tank in good condition and disclose any issues upfront.

How can we help?

Anglo Nordic offers a wide array of essential heating oil products, frequently required during the servicing season. Our inventory includes various oil lines, filters, and nozzles. OFTEC recommends changing the oil line at every service, along with cleaning or changing the oil filter and nozzle. Among the other crucial items tested during a service is the fire valve, for which we carry capillary, free-fall and lever types, as well as fire valve testers. Additionally, we also stock tank alarms and gauges, so that the owner can know how much is left in the tank or if anyone is tampering or attempting to syphon the oil.

In Conclusion

Unfortunately, the Summer will come to an end and the colder weather will soon return. This is why it’s important for your customers to get their Heating Systems serviced before they need them most.
